The Remo External Sub Muff’l® Bass Drum System is a free-floating bass drum dampening accessory designed to control overtones while preserving the natural character of the drum. Unlike permanently attached muffling systems, the External Sub Muff’l allows the drumhead to maintain full contact with the bearing edge, ensuring the drum shell and head retain their full tonal response.

Constructed with a durable external plastic profile and slip-resistant dampening foam inserts, the system reduces unwanted resonance while enhancing subsonic low frequencies and attack. The foam inserts can easily be adjusted or removed to fine-tune the level of dampening for different playing environments.

The External Sub Muff’l Bass Drum System is compatible with bass drumheads that do not have built-in dampening and is ideal for both live performance and studio recording applications.
